Or just stay quiet and lovely

Note: This piece was selected for the “Art at the Avenue” Exhibition, a juried exhibition hosted by the South Cobb Arts Alliance in Marietta, GA on August 27 - September 17, 2022.
My teenage self had a purple bedroom (which I later painted honeydew-green), walls covered with clippings and photos, and a ceiling hung with rainbow twinkle lights and colorful mobiles. My taste has matured since then, but I still love saturated color and an environment filled with visual interest and eclectic combinations. “Or Just Stay Quiet and Lovely” is titled for my internal debate between wanting to release my weird, colorful intensity into the world…or staying quiet and lovely and universally likable. This piece is bold and sophisticated, with incredible texture and peekaboo layers that make it even more interesting up close.
36x36” acrylic and paper collage on gallery-wrapped canvas, sealed with gloss varnish. Sides are white and hanging hardware is installed on the back.
